Community Water Project: Access to Safe Water

For many rural communities in Ghana, access to safe water remains a daily challenge. In Fahiako and Afarikrom and cluster communities, the people have traditionally relied on streams and other seasonal water sources. During the dry season, these sources can dry up, forcing residents to travel farther in search of water and increasing the risks associated with using unreliable sources.

Through our partnership with Africa’s People Africa’s Power e.V. (APAP), Germany, we have supported the construction of community boreholes to provide a more reliable and accessible source of water.

The projects are built around community participation and shared responsibility: the communities contribute local labor and ownership, technical support is provided through local structures, and APAP provides financial support. This partnership approach turns a basic infrastructure project into a sustainable community investment—improving access to water, supporting health and sanitation, and strengthening community wellbeing. APAP identifies Afarikrom and Fahiako among its current Ghana activities.
